First Time on-snow experience

What is an On-Snow Experience Lesson?

New this season, we are excited to introduce a complimentary 30-minute fundamentals-focused program for first-time skiers and snowboarders.

The program is split into two 30-minute stations, with new sessions starting every half hour depending on availability.

The Navajo Learning Center offers a dedicated, inviting space for new skiers and snowboards to familiarize themselves with the tools to safely begin their journey to a new sport from the very start.

Register online to sign your waiver & we’ll see you there!

The program is free with no age restriction & no time limits. Lessons begin at 10 AM and continue to 3:30, with a new experience beginning every 30 minutes (depending on availability). Families are welcome to experience together. Kids 12 and under must have an adult present.

FAQs

What’s the difference between the snow experience & a lesson?

The on-snow experience is a 30-minute learning experience for 1st time skiers/riders with an instructor. This experience is at your own pace and you will get tips to help you get around safely.  A paid 2-hour (group or private) lesson is with one instructor, and you can advance to harder, more challenging slopes with their guidance.

How do I sign up?

Register online before your visit to secure your free on-snow experience. The experience is free, but registration is required to attend the program.

How long can I stay in the on-snow experience?

Each clinic is in 30-minute session. You will be able to stay in the On-Snow Experience until you are confident enough to stop on your own, be it 30 minutes or 3 days.  We want you to be comfortable, confident, and safe on the gentle terrain.

When and when can I start the experience?

Sessions begin at 10 AM and a new experience starts every half an hour (dependent upon availability).  The last experience starts at 3:30 and closes at 4 PM. The experience will be closed between 12:30 PM & 1:30 PM for lunch.

After you have registered online and picked up rental equipment downstairs in Navajo Lodge, you will exit through the west basement Navajo doors to find the On-Snow Experience area.

Can I participate in multiple on-snow experiences?

Yes, but remember that the On-Snow Experience does not go beyond gentle terrain. If you are ready to go beyond that, then please sign up for a lesson.
